Women in Video Games Require a Patch:The Prequel

Fun Fact: One of my cats really enjoys eating Mountain Dew slushies (seriously).

I'd like to consider myself a pretty passionate gamer. There are a wide variety of games I enjoy to play.

Some of which I am ashamed of saying that I really liked.
*cough* Lollipop Chainsaw *cough*

Some of my favorites are ones with good developing characters. The story has to draw me in. While overall gameplay places a role in how deep I get into a game, if the characters can't sell me the story then it gameplay definitely won't.

When it comes to Role-playing games or Massive Multiplayer Online games (or MMOs for short), most of the characters I play are female characters. I never really had a set reason why originally, but as I got older to started to play mostly female characters to get a sense of how they are represented in the game.

There was one thing..

Whether the game I'm playing is an shooter or an RPG, there's small issue that I've noticed.
Scratch that.

There's a LARGE issue that I've noticed.

Women are represented very...
How I say it..
Hmm..

Negatively in video games.

Misogyny runs pretty seamlessly in a lot of video games.

It's like..
Misogyny is the Unreal Engine of video games. (Geez Toni, coming out swinging for the fences huh?)

This doesn't stop at video game content though, it runs through the video game industry as well.(#Gamergate). Women journalist are sometimes under fire for simply for doing their jobs and by (you guess it) key male players in the video game industry.

What I'm saying is it's practically the T-Virus of the video game world.

But how far has this virus spread?

I am aware this discussion will deter many people, but I am comfortable with that.
Everything is a discussion for me. I am simply opening up the dialogue with information that is critical for not only myself, but for those who are willing to counteract what I bring to the table.

It's time to put your thinking caps on folks. We are diving into misogyny in video games.

2 down, 98 to go.

(I never want any one who reads my content to believe I am one-sided on a matter. I am always open to new information. I am critical of my own views as well as others.)
